Dr. Mackay is a well trained, experienced plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery for adults and children. He received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University and his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston South Carolina. After completing residency training in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery from Emory University, Dr. Mackay underwent additional fellowship training in pediatric and adult craniofacial surgery and aesthetic surgery of the facial skeleton at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Mackay is experienced in all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Mackay held full time faculty teaching appointments as an assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery with the Mayo Clinic and Emory University School of Medicine. During his tenure with the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Mackay was the director of the aesthetic and reconstructive fellowship program. As a faculty member with the Emory Clinic, Dr. Mackay was the director of the Craniofacial program and Chief of Plastic Surgery at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta- Egleston.
Dr. Mackay has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters. He has been an invited and guest speaker both nationally and internationally. His clinical research in endoscopic minimal incision browlift earned him an outstanding achievement award from the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
